Q: Can anyone change their LinkedIn background?
A: Yes. For the last few years now anyone can add a banner background to their profile. Previously, only Premium LinkedIn account holders could change their backgrounds. Currently, LinkedIn offers Premium users access to their exclusive background gallery. Most users have regular accounts, however. When you have a regular (unpaid) account, you're free to use any image for your background from any source you choose.
Q: What kind of image can be used for your profile background?
A: The latest information on LinkedIn's own website states that background images (headers) must be either .jpg, .gif or .png file types, no larger than 8 MB and the recommended dimensions no larger than 1584 pixels wide and 396 pixels in height. Avoid using monotone backgrounds (too boring) or backgrounds that are too busy and cluttered (confusing to visitors). In the past, people placed logos, phrases, buzzwords and "images within images" on their background photo. It's not a good idea to do this anymore. Images are automatically resized by LinkedIn depending on the device; any logos, words or phrases may cropped or stretched in a way you cannot 100% control. So it's best to stick with a pure photo image or a abstract art or graphic art image with no words or logos. Keep it simple, elegant and timeless is the best solution.

A: LinkedIn is a business social media platform that loves to see great content AND visuals!
